HYAA FLAG FOOTBALL AGES - 5 TO 14 (Grades K-8)

HYAA Flag Football Program Overview

Our vision is to help kids learn, enjoy, and excel at the game of flag football.

Our seasons are generally 10-12 weeks long (approx 8-10 games, weather permitting) and include a season ending tournament for all teams. Teams will practice once per week and play games one to times per week, usually on a weeknight and a Saturday. Registration begins in early July, practices start in early August, and games run from Sept-Oct/Nov.

AGE DIVISIONS

HYAA Flag Football is organized with the following age brackets:

Ages 5/6 (mostly grade K-1)

02

Ages 7/8 (mostly grade 2-3)

03

Ages 9/10 (mostly grade 4-5)

04

Ages 11-14 (mostly grade 6-8)

TEAM FORMATION

Parity is paramount to our mission and HYAA uses a player evaluation process (skills day and prior season coach’s evaluation) and then a draft to create teams. HYAA’s goal is to create a system of team parity, where teams are generally balanced. Parity creates exciting football and enhances the enjoyment of the players and spectators.

FACILITIES

HYAA owns no facilities. In all cases, HYAA rents facilities from the Town of Huntersville, Charlotte Mecklenburg School System, and other private entities. The charges associated with facilities are a sizable portion of the participant registration fee.

UNIFORMS

HYAA provides uniforms for the players which includes a jersey.
